The British actor Christian Bale first tasted fame when he starred in Steven Spielberg’s "Empire of the Sun." He then went on to star in "American Psycho, and several Batman movies, where he played the dual role of Bruce Wayne and Batman. Born January 30, 1974 in Wales to an English mother who was a circus performer and a father who was born in South Africa, he lived in Britain, Portugal, and the United States while he was growing up. He has followed in his father's footsteps and is active in environmental issues.
