Easter, which is also commonly known as Resurrection Sunday, is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after he was crucified. The Resurrection, or coming back to life, is the basis for the Christian belief of salvation. It is a moveable feast, and is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon following the vernal equinox.
