Known frequently as the Palestine Mandate, the British Mandate for Palestine was a document which was confirmed by the League of Nations in 1922 which formalized the rule of Britain in the southern part of Ottoman Syria and allowed the United Kingdom to divide the territory into two areas. The areas were Palestine which would remain administratively Britain's territory, and Transjordan, this would be autonomous under the reign of what is now Saudi Arabia.
