Once called “serum hepatitis,” the liver disease now known as Hepatitis B is an infectious inflammatory liver disease is transmitted by blood or body fluids which carry the infection. Left untreated, hepatitis B can cause liver cancer or cirrhosis and eventual death. This type of hepatitis may be prevented by vaccination.
