Officially known as the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, the Assemblies of God are an association of national denominations, forming the largest Pentecostal body and the fourth largest Christian body in the world.

Organized in 1914, its founders were former evangelical pastors who had experienced the Pentecostal phenomenon of speaking in tongues, and wanted to join together for doctrinal unity and enhanced missionary activities through a cooperative effort.

Theologically, the Assemblies of God are Arminian, having an emphasis on Christ's atoning death for all people, free will, and the need for conversion.

The AG believes in the inspiration and infallibility of the Bible, and its role as the only authoritative rule of faith and practice.

There is one God, united in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father is the creator, the Son is the first creation, and the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and Son.

Jesus is fully divine, and the eternal Son of God. At the incarnation, Jesus was fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life and performed several miracles. Through His death on the cross, Jesus atoned for the sins of humanity. He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father, where he intercedes for mankind.

Believers are entitled to and should seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit, as this was a promise from the Father. With the baptism of the Holy Spirit comes power for life and service, an overflowing fullness of the Spirit, a deeper reverence for God, and a more active love for Jesus Christ. The evidence of the baptism of the Spirit is the sign of speaking in tongues.

AG Members also believe in divine healing.

Members of the AG believe that mankind fell when Adam sinned, thereby bringing physical and spiritual death to all of humanity. The only hope of redemption is through the blood of Christ, which was shed on the cross. Salvation comes from repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. The evidence of salvation is the inward witness of the Holy Spirit within the heart of the believer, and the outward evidence of a life of righteousness.

The Assemblies of God holds that Christ will rapture the saints one day. This will be followed by the visible return of Christ, at which time He will set up a millennial kingdom, which He will rule for a thousand years. At the final judgment, believers will look forward to new heavens and a new earth, while the wicked will receive everlasting punishment.

The body of Christ is the church, which is made up of each believer. Through the church, God evangelizes the world. The church is a corporate body in which believers worship God, and through which they assist one another to achieve perfection, in the image of Christ.

The Assemblies of God is congregational at the local level and presbyterian at the national level. The AG General Council has central control over the missionary, educational, and ministerial concerns of the body. The General Council is made up of all ordained ministers and lay representatives from local congregations. Meeting every other year, the General Council elects general officers, settles doctrinal matters, and provides for church expansion and development. Between meetings of the Council, the matters of the church are administered through the general superintendent and other general church officers, who work out of the AG national headquarters in Springfield, Missouri.

Men and women are free to participate equally in all levels of the Assemblies of God ministry, including ordination.

The sacraments of the AG include the baptism of believers and observance of the Lord's Supper.

The Assemblies of God includes fellowships in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and North America.

The focus of this category is on the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, any of its national fellowships, and affiliated missions, ministries, publishing arms, organizations, and corporations. Local congregations should be submitted to the appropriate Local & Global category, however.
