Terrell is located east of Dallas, in Kaufman County, Texas. The community began as a depot town that grew up along the Texas and Pacific Railroad. In 1873, a group of landowners led by Robert Terrell donated a hundred acres to the railroad company in exchange for a depot on the rail line, and the town was organized around this site, and another hundred acres to the north.
