Dallas is located in five Texas counties: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Kaufman, and Rockwell. It became a large city due to oil and cotton industries as well as the fact that it is along several railroad lines. It is probably best-known by non-Texans as the city where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
