Founded in 1819, the village of Versailles, Ohio is in Darke County. Versailles is the only village in Wayne Township. The community was originally named Jacksonville but, since a majority of its early residents were of French descent, the village’s name was changed to Versailles in 1837. The village is east of Ansonia and west of Russia, Ohio.
