Sharonville, Ohio is located in northeast Hamilton County, with a small portion of the town in southern Butler County. The area that was to become Sharonville was purchased by Henry Runyan in 1791, and the first settlers arrived between 1788 and 1792. Originally, the town was named Sharon, after a small town in Pennsylvania, renamed Sharonville in 1876 due to confusion with another town by the same name in eastern Ohio. Sharonville was incorporated as a village in 1911 and became a city in 1962.
