The Village of Cadiz is the seat of Harrison County, Ohio. The actor, Clark Gable, was a resident of Cadiz, as were John Bingham, a Republican congressman, judge advocate in the trials of the Abraham Lincoln assassination conspirators, prosecutor in the impeachment trials of Andrew Johnson, and the principal framer of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Cadiz was established in 1803, and named for the Spanish city by that name.
