California’s Santa Ana is the county seat of Orange County. It is named after the Santa Ana River, on whose banks the city is located. After the Mexican-American was ended in 1848, the region in which Santa Ana is located was given to the U.S. as part of Alta California, and shortly thereafter, American settlers began to arrive. It was incorporated as a city in 1886.
